Grow Your Own

If a man sows a seed into his own fertile land, waters it and cares for it diligently, he should rightfully yeild a harvest in due time.  The type of seed he plants will, of course, determine what he will harvest as well as the time in which germination will occur.  If he came by the seed honestly and tended it on his own land, then he will collect the fruit by which it produces.  A plant that yeilds an abundant harvest may compel the man to share some fruit with his neighbors, or perhaps he will choose to preserve it for a later date. Its unlawful for anyone to come on his land and help themselves to the fruit without his permission.  I think we all agree with this scenario, assuming we are talking about growing apples or oranges.  Now perhaps the man planted a money seed and reaps an extraordinary crop of cash.  Oh, how quickly we want to change the principle. Since money trees unfortunately don't exist, lets say his seed represents an endeavor, he recognizes his fertile plot (his area of strength) and sows something into it then diligently cares for it through education or entraprenual pursuit.  His harvest could present in the form of wealth, in due season, depending on a host of variables.  Lets just say the mans plains are white, and ripe for the picking...he's rich and has much more than is sufficient for himself.  He should be compelled to preserve some, share a portion of his bumper crop with the less fortunate, bless those in need and gain satisfaction through doing so.  If he keeps it all for himself, perhaps he is full of greed and that too will reap its own harvest, in due season.  Still, no one should lawfully help themselves to the mans fruit, right?

So, here lies my question, why in the world do we confiscate the earnings of Americans according to their level of success in reaping a harvest of wealth?  Its called theivery in all other scenarios I can think of.  Let me clarify that I do believe in taxes, I don't want to live in a society without police and firefighters!  However, there is not a valid justification for taking more from those who have more, its just not right.  Robinhood is an old tale with non-fiction genre.  I see big government robbing the wealthy on a white horse in the broad daylight with criminal consequences to fall on those who may not conform.  Let those who can give more do so on their own accord, to whom their convictions lead them and return the rightful fulfillment and satisfaction they deserve for having a giving and compassionate heart. Demanding absurd tax pay ins not only robs the rightful of their earnings, it likewise robs their spirit of compassion, at least to a degree.  So, go plant a seed, diligently care for it and reap your harvest accordingly.  Grow your own.

No, I Can't...Yes, I Can!

No, I can't change you mind, nor your attitude.  I can't make your mind up nor can I make you take action according to your convictions.  I can change my mind, my attitude and I can choose to take action according to my own convictions.  I see a society in a mental fog, putting one foot in front of the other and going nowhere fast.  I'm an American and I believe that the blood shed for me and my children saturated the soil and fertalized a ground that I will choose to stand upon.  I refuse to acclimate my belief system because of dilutions of the truth and distraction debate tactics.  We walk among a people who suffers from passive and selective memory and a society trending toward taking a seat in the "I can't do anything about it" section.  Well, perhaps it is high time we change the seating arrangement, pull our flags back out and wave them like we just don't care.  I'm just the girl next door and I can't fix the nations problems but I can tell the difference from right and wrong and so can you.  Today I will choose to talk about it...because I can!
